First, the tale of the double Birthday.
Ask me what my husband's birthday is. I don't know.
Sometimes he says it's the 13th. Sometimes he says it's the 14th. His mother calls to wish him a happy irthday on the 14th, and she would know, right? His passport says it's the 13th. He demands recognition and celebration on both days. If you dare neglect either day, you will be summarily punished.
Why does Dx not know his birthday? Well, he was born in Bangkok. In Thailand, it is good luck to be born on Friday the 13, opposite of our culture. Too bad Dx was born in the middle of the night, at like 2 am on the 14th.
But that was Thailand, folks.
His dad bribed the nurse to change the date to the 13th. All of Dx's legal documents say he was born on the 13th. But he wasn't.
Here is Dx in London at midnight between his birthdays. He is wearing pants.
And Now, the Tale of The Double Anniversary.
This one makes slightly more sense.
Dx and I wanted to have a New Year's Eve Party for our wedding reception. Unfortunately, the temple was closed on December 31. We got married on December 30, had a family dinner, then went to the fabuloso Westin St. Francis for our honeymoon.
The following day, everybody in our family prepared for our huge wedding reception to be held that night, New Year's Eve. We showed up five minutes before and the whole thing was ready to go. Everybody pitched in and slaved over our party and all we had to do is show up in our wedding costumes. The New Year's Eve party was fantastic.
When people ask when we were married, we say New Year's Eve because most non-LDS people don't understand how the wedding might be different than the party. But really, we were married on the 30th of December.

Dx should give some birthday charity to those with a 29 Feb b'day..
Nice tie ins. I like the photo of you and Ellie doing the white man's boogie.
Your wedding party was the best yet. So fun. Someone else needs to get married soon.
You look so beautiful in your wedding dress. I truly mean that!
I liked this post. Informative, yet entertaining. Will you be there on Sunday? What time is best? I've kind of invited myself over to your mom's house, but I WILL NOT go to California without seeing all of you lovely people.
i think you deserve some public accolades for your ability to juggle such insanity. it should be pointed out that only a woman with patience, love, and supreme organizational skills could successfully navigate such a gluttony of celebration. especially around pre-existing national holidays. you pretty much rock.
Thank you for the answers. I had been wondering on the double anniversary thing.
And you look amazing in those pics.
I love those stories! My dad has double birthdays too. But, Birth certificate says May 18, and he says it's Nov. 17. We don't know what to believe. Great Wedding Reception idea, I know you had fun!!!!
If he has two birthdays, doesn't that mean you get two birthdays too? I did have a boyfriend who I somehow convinced that my half birthday was an event worth celebrating and so for the two plus years we went out, I got presents on Feb. 1. My husband hasn't ever caught on to that idea. Dang it.
You guys have the best parties.
And thanks for the stories. Very informative.
My mom doesn't know what year she was born in. She was born in Cuba for some reason I can't remember the details she says she was born in 1950 when really she was born in 1951, it has something to do with school. Not sure.
How great to have 2 birthdays and 2 anniversaries. Your reception/party looks fabulous and I love your dress!
I didn't actually know you were married on the 30th. I always thought it was the 31st. And I was at both parties, I think. Now if only you could spread those two occasions out over a week!
happy birthday!
happy anniversary!
it's more fun to have several days to celebrate anyway. I think you did it right.
Love love love your dress and your pretty makeup. I can tell that your entire family has good skin.
This is a very good trait because you won't look old. Is it insulting to you that I thought we were the same age? I always think I'm younger than I am. You're not even 27 yet? Next year I'll be 30. UGHGGGGGG
Happy approaching anniversary, times two. I like it for the fact that you can celebrate for two days straight. I didn't know Dx was from Thailand. Have you gotten to visit?
Good idea to have double birthdays and double annivs. I say it means double presents and double cake!
Gorgeous bouquet, killer dress, foxy guy...and the white man's overbite. Looks like a perfect wedding!!!
Um, why does it look like Dx is in a bathroom in the birthday pic?
I love the double birthday! My dad was born right here in the US of A at a couple minutes after midnight on Valentine's Day. The doc asked my grandma what day she wanted on the birth certificate.
Grandma said she wanted the day she did all the work. So my dad's birthday is Feb 13th instead.
I know I'm about a week late on commenting, but you have given me a fantastic idea for future years. We were married on Dec. 15 and had our reception/party on Dec. 16. From here on out I am going to let my hubby know that we need to celebrate two days in a row.
