Here is Mimi rummaging through my shoe department, well, half of my shoe department. I have a whole other section dedicated to boots. I love shoes. I feel angry at people who don't love shoes, or who wear bad shoes. Sorry the picture is blurry. I wish you could see every shoe in detail, but alas.
Before I had a kid, I was anti baby shoe, especially Robeez. Robeez, I thought, were insults. They're expensive moccassins. I stand corrected. Robeez stay on and they have cute little decals on them. Also, they are comfy and fit for 6 months. Who knew that you need five pairs of baby shoes, and she can't even walk?
1- Light pink every day
1- Darker pink every day
1- Pumas I couldn't resist
1- Black church
1- Pink Church
1- What to wear with red?
Here are my next Robeez purchase.
How many shoes do you buy your kid, per stage? What is the price limit for kid shoes?

I feel like I'll be shunned for saying this, but here goes. I hate Robeez. They aren't just expensive moccasins. They are expensive ugly shoes that taint my cute baby. She deserves more than gathered leather around her cankles. Regardless of decals. And for me, $12 is the limit, and that's only if they are ridiculously cute. No amount of shoes is too many, however. But remember that she'll outgrow them before she'll have an outfit to wear with them, so try to buy future sizes sometimes.
Mardee! I agree completely! It is only the decals that sent me over to the dark side of Robeez! I scorned them, Dx bought the first pair and now I'm tempted to buy more. Save me from myself and tell me which shoes stay on!
When it comes to boys they only need three pair. 1 for church, 1 pair of sandals and 1 pair of sneakers. Now if I had a girl, there are too many shoes out there for them and I don't know if I could control myself she might need like 20 pair like Alice.
I have a boy and we have Robeez. I was completely anti before I had a kid too, but they are great, they stay on and I NEVER pay full price for them (Nordstrom on sale, Ebay, etc.). Plus, the whole world (and since we live overseas, I am confident making this statement) thinks they are adorable - of course that is one of the reasons I continue to buy them. But, since he is a boy, we have managed to get by with 2 pair in each size and now we are moving into "real" shoes because he is running - not just walking - everywhere - are will have to diversify some. Frankly, if we had a girl, this would be a moot discussion because I would buy anything and everything in sight!
I love robeez. They stay on. When Alice starts walking and I have to buy real shoes it will be a tragedy. I can't get her church shoes to stay on for the life of me.
Light pink robeez
black and white robeez
Pink robeez boots (love them)
white robeez boots
black target church shoes that fall off
You can get a lot of expensive cute shoes at the thrift store downtown Danmville. Or at Paige's. Just take her over there barefoot and without her hair done, leave for an hour and viola! shoes and matching bows.
Glen bought Isabella Robeez too. I think they're cute, but not my favorite. Isabella has a pair of Vans that are my favorite and they stay on! They were $20. Isabella has about 8 pairs of shoes that she can wear right now. I love shoes too! I like Pedipeds better than Robeez, but they are also expensive. I try to follow the rule of not spending more than target prices on baby shoes, but as you can see I've failed at this!

I know it's nearing winter, but those flipflops with the elastic, they are champs. They won't come off no matter how much Cadence tries. You could come down here and we'll go to Venice Beach together! When she wasn't walking I had those really cute slippers that were pink faux-fur. They were actually almost exactly like Robeez, come to think of it, just cuter. Remember she wore them to your baby shower? Old Navy. No leather to get worn down. good. also, I've found great ones at H&M. And since church shoes will never stay on no matter what, but the worst time for Robeez is with tights, get some of those cute socks that have "pretend" maryjane designs.
Babies need lots of cute shoes because the whole point of a baby is to look cute and bring their mother happiness because of it. I say the more shoes the merrier! Although I'll admit my "baby" doesn't have a lot right now due to me shopping too much for myself and not enough for my children lately.
I'm not a Robeez fan. Sorry. I can see their usefullness in staying on but that's as far as I can go in saying anything positive. Agree with Brigitta that boys don't need anything more than what's practical, but as for girls, shoes are part of one of the "girl clubs" I was so excited about with Ava. How many? As many as her mommy wants. I love little dress flats to go with jeans and they double for church. I got some adorable black and white tweed flats with a tiny pink leather bow and equally adorable light pink beaded flats that I'm obsessed with, both at Target. They make her look like a little woman. Oh, and my 20 month old doesn't walk either. She just hasn't decided to. I'm afraid of her strong will.
Nor, thanks for your Christopher Walken condolences. My younger sisters can thank me for the fact that I forbade my mom to continue the tradition when their special day came. Reading about CW and my dad was the only time I've ever laughed about this. You're a miracle worker.
It is really true that girls need more than boys...Jane has 5 ( 2 Sunday, br boots, white tennis shoes, red high heeled canvas things--I think the most expensive was $20). THe older they get, the more expensive they are and it is so annoying to pay the same for your kids' shoes as you do for your own.
I agree, boys need 3 shoes. Girls need countless, one for every outfit. Right now I am looking for plain white tennis shoes for Bea but they are hard to find this time of year. I"m fine with Robeez if they have something really cute on them.
Well, I didn't even know what I was buying. To be perfectly honest, I took Mims out and forgot to put on her socks...so I went and bought her socks at this store, I forget the name but I think it has a tractor beam that sucks my wife in and makes her spend and spend...oh, I remember the store...Gymboree, or something. But the socks fell off after a block of walking because my child has a elephantitis of the body, and I stumbled into this boutique that sells only baby's shoes...those Robeez were the only ones I saw that would stay on her gigantic feet without the use of tape.
Mimi is going to be just like her Mommy. Payton loves shoes in the store, but once we get them home she only wants to wear her "Reef Flip-Flops"!! I fall for her begging everytime, hoping she will love every and all cute shoes, but no!
15 comments! Good job.
yep, the Robeez just get cuter and cuter. and they keep those little socks on. to add to your dilemma, check out these: www.pediped.com
When my first child was an infant, I actually spent $75 on her first pair of "walking shoes," having bought into the whole brainwash of how their first shoe must provide the very best support and flexibility that Italian leather can offer.
Then I discovered Payless...
