I wash the first day, condition and blow dry using products. I brush before I go to sleep, then wake up with gross looking hair that belongs nowhere but in a pony tail or under a baseball hat.
My sisters and I all basically have the same texture of hair, except mine is more fried because, well, life's a bleach and then you dye. None of us have ever grown our hair really long, except Cam who also suffers from SDG.
I see other women wear their hair all fluffy two days in a row. Do they just wash and blow dry every day? They must have wicked split ends. Maybe I'm using the wrong products? What should I be using?
Right now I use Zerran for colored hair, which is great for the first day but does nothing to help with day two. Some times I deep condition with L'oreal's after color conditioner from the box.
I know this is neither hair nor thair, but maybe YOU have conquered the Second Day Greasies?
P.S., please note eyelashes and clear skin in this photo, to counteract all the ugly up top.

Kerastase. It's like, a million dollars, ok, it's really like 50 bucks a bottle, but it's AMAZING. It will transform your hair like never before. Trust me. I've got good hair, and not the second day greasies, just the second day lazies.
Hey Lenore,
I linked you first but Heidi will try to claim that she did it before me but we all know that older sisters LIE.
My sister is such a big giant CHEATER. I was talking on the phone with her and told her I was going to link you right this very second. Since I can't type and talk at the same time, she beat me to it.
Same...I totally cannot go two days. I believe there are some of us who must sacrifice healthiness for cleanliness.
But let me know what you find.
I linked you. Not because you threatened me, but because I actually do chech you daily.
Thank you Hazens. It's about darn time.
Nor, when you have more kids you will make your hairdresser happy--you'll be thrilled to get 2 showers a week. In the meantime, try powder on day 2. Doesn't really matter what kind, baby powder or perfumed powder, just put some on your fingers and rub a little in your roots. It's a good temporary fix. Or, buy more baseball hats?
Okay Nor, Tell the Truth, Which Hazen Sister Linked You First!! Hello, I did it the day you returned to Blog Land! Sorry about the Greasies- no ideas, just take a shower, let the hair-dresser just get rid of split-ends. Make her earn her money!
Okay, I'm one of Celia's friend that went to dinner. I had the same problem. But key is you have to train your hair and the products you use do make a difference. I only wash my hair 1 to 2 times a week. At first you skip one day and you do have to wear it in a ponytail for a little while but after doing it for a while it does get to the point that you can wear it cute that 2nd day. Also most products you buy in salon are better that the usually store bought products...They don't way down your hair as much..and use your products sparingly
I'm jealous that you have Hazen girls fighting about you. I got there first. Me and Heather.
Maybe I can't be friends with Audry now that I know her hair secret because it always does look cute and not greasy. People with sick hair need to stick together.
Loved the puns. I need more puns.
Dear Sicko,
Just take a shower. You smell. It isn't just your hair.
I think Audry has it right about your hair and scalp adjusting to your routine. Once I got rid of my 80's big bangs, I quit washing every day. I am now down to twice a week, occasionaly once. If something is going on and I want my hair wet to style, then I just condition, thinking that is less damaging than the shampoo. I don't usually get the greasies until day 4-6. I also think having longer hair helps, all the hair hanging away from the scalp helps hide or deflect attention away from what is going on at the scalp.
Celia you don't have to stop being my friend just get better hair. :)
ponytails. or braids. that's my solution. whenever i wear my hair in ponytails my daughter says "Oh, mommy, you didn't wash your hair today!"
Of course I like the powder thing, but you all make fun of me due the the white, greasy build up. It's a family thing, we all must wash our hair. We're greasy, that's why we all got (get) massive zits. But I'm all about spending a million dollars to solve a problem, so try the Keratase.
I am late on this one but I totally have the same greasy issues. When people don't wash their hair everyday do they still get it wet? Cause I can't seem to shower and keep my hair dry at the same time.
I'm an every other day washer. Hair, that is. I just put a head band on and clip up the rest. Good to turn down the water to reduce the pressure, and thus the excessive splashing.
Anyway, I'm with Sally. If I'm desperate, I have put corn starch in my hair. It feels nasty, but looks ungreasy. And a little blonder. :) There's also a product called "One More Day" or something like that. Our old roommate, Kristin, used to use it, Nor.
I only wash my hair twice a week. But I have really thick hair and I do have the $50 shampoo that is incredible (and it lasts forever since I only use it twice a week). I've also been doing it for years now. Initially when I started, it was kind of hideous the 3rd day, but it just adapted over time. Now, my hair is really healthy. But to be honest it's not about the health of my hair, it's because I never have and probably never will know how to fix my hair, so the fewer times I wash it the fewer times I have to attempt to fix it.
Rinse on the days you don't shampoo - it seems to distribute the grease better.

Okay, I know this is strange but I have been thinking about your hair, Lenore. Can you do without the blowdrying? I think that would make a huge difference.
I am now officially done thinking about your hair.
Nor, this is the best post EVER. Im scared to try Kerastase though. I know I'll like it. I think b/c we both have the same texture hair, we need to do the rinse it on the second day thing. I'll experiment w/ just rinsing and then rinsing w/ conditioner. I think flat ironing is the answer for us as well. I can't believe these girls that wash 1x per week! That is soooo not fair. Who are these women?
Hey I'm a random but not creepy blog stalker who found Paige and Celia's blogs from Aubrey(we met briefly at CMU and are facebook friends) and I just discovered your blog and have been reading through because I'm bored and in college and you are all hilarious!, so I don't know if you will even see this but, anyway, I used to have this problem and all you have to do is stop conditioning the top of your hair. Just condition the hair after your scalp, your scalp makes enough oil for the hair at the top!
