Dx and I often sing the obnoxious sax riff from a completely horrible elevator muzack song. We have never been able to place the song, even singing it for friends has not provided any leads to figuring out what the song was called, nor who sings the aural atrocity.
Tonight, after a lifetime of annoyance, I have learned the name of my most loathed tune. It's called "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty and I hate it. It is the antithesis of punk rock and roll.
Here is an equally disgusting video for this most abhorred song. Enjoy. Please note the drummer's beard.
Here is a review of the song from Rhapsody.com:
"You know that soft rock song "Baker Street" with the mentally contaminating saxophone hook? You can thank Gerry Rafferty for that one.
Do you have a least favorite song of all time?

Anything by Phil Collins or REM. And any song on KFOG. I hate KFOG.
"SomeBODY once told me the WORLD is gonna owe me, I AIN't the sharpest tool in the shed" Hate it. A lot. And your welcome for planting it in your brain.
My most annoying songs are ads. Did you watch the Office this week? "Give me a break, give me a break, break me off a piece of that KitKat bar."
I don't even watch commercials. I have tivo.
Mony Mony. Thanks to EVERY SINGLE church dance I ever attended. It takes me back to the Manteca Stake Center every time I hear it.
I hate the "Macarena"! Everyone always tries to make you do that dumb dance! And they expect me to know it and translate it because I am half Mex!
Mony Mony, hands down. It should be destroyed. Followed by other annoying songs like Who Let the Dogs Out, that I guarantee you will hear if you were ever to attend a Jazz game. Seriously.
I'm not going to listen to or watch the video you linked because I'm afraid of having this allegedly horrible song haunt me for the next few days. I have a tough time getting bad songs out of my head (including children's songs, especially if Barney sang them).
I must agree with the above posters: Mony Mony is hideous.
Sorry, Lenore - I think the way that "Baker Street" was used in "Good Will Hunting" (behind a fight scene) redeems it.
My friend at work DJs a set every week called "Sailing" featuring gems by Christopher Cross and other late seventies soft rock. People LOVE it. Well, drunk people.

personally i dont care where cotton eye joe came from. nor do i care where he went. if i could choose, i would send him to the chair.
Soft Cell, Tainted Love. Sorry Celia if you like that one. But only b/c this loser guy ruined it for me.
p.s...thanks nori. One more burning question can be put to bed b/c of this post. Now we know who's responsible for that song. Even though I myself will go to bed singing it in just a few minutes and be a little mad at you for that, at least I know the man's name. Damn Raffertys!
